Image to Text
Extract clean, copyable text from screenshots and images directly in your browser.
Image to Text Converter
Image to Text is a free tool that reads the words inside a photo or screenshot and turns them into plain, editable text. Instead of retyping a message, a slide, or an error dialog by hand, drop the image in and get text you can paste anywhere in seconds.
Everything happens on your own device. The tool loads an optical character recognition engine directly in your browser, so no screenshot is ever uploaded to a server, and there's nothing to install, sign up for, or pay for.

What is Image OCR?
OCR stands for optical character recognition. It's the technology that looks at the pixels of an image and figures out which letters, numbers and symbols they form. Screenshot OCR applies that same idea specifically to screen captures — chat bubbles, browser windows, slides, code editors — so the words trapped inside a picture become normal, selectable text again.
Does this tool upload my image?
Your screenshot never leaves your device. The OCR engine runs as WebAssembly code inside your own browser tab. No image is sent to a server, no copy is kept after you close the page, and no account is required to use the tool.
